Fractals and Infinite Complexity

Benoît Mandelbrot discovered that many natural objects — coastlines, clouds, mountains, trees — possess fractal structure. Zoom in and similar patterns reappear endlessly. The Mandelbrot set became one of the most famous images in mathematics.
