Birthday of Georg Ohm (1789)

Georg Ohm discovered Ohm's Law — V = IR — through meticulous mathematical experimentation. His 1827 publication was initially rejected and ridiculed by German scientists; a minister of education called it 'a web of naked fancies.' The Royal Society of London recognised his work in 1841 with the Copley Medal. Today V = IR is the most-used equation in electrical engineering. The unit of electrical resistance — the ohm — bears his name. His work exemplifies how mathematical modelling of physical phenomena, though initially resisted, ultimately transforms technology.

Ohm's Law says doubling the voltage doubles the current. What happens to power dissipation (P = IV) if you double the voltage while resistance stays fixed?
